Limit your puppy’s space. Keep your puppy in a small playpen, gated area or crate. The puppy should be taken outside to his “potty area” regularly and after potty-triggering events. The potty-triggering events include waking up, eating and drinking.
Use the same spot and clear it of snow. Create a potty space in the snow or slush. Take him immediately to that spot whenever you take him outside to potty.

Reward: Puppies should be rewarded for eliminating in the right place. Rewards can be treats, playtime or lots of affection. Whatever it is, use it every time your puppy potties in the potty area.
